Duets LARP Jam

A LARP jam for two-player games

Work alone or grab a friend and create games for two players!

What: You challenge yourself to write at least one game for exactly two players, with no gamerunner or facilitator needed. Games can have multiple groups of two players playing the game separately, in parallel, in the same room, but the game should be able to be played with only two players in a single run playing it entirely alone. Characters can be pre-written or player-created. Games can take any tone, involve any style of gameplay, utilize any mechanics, and tackle any subject matter. The unofficial theme/prompt for this jam is intimacy, however you choose to interpret that.

When: The official kickoff is October 1, 2025 and ends January 1, 2026.

How: You submit a game (or multiple games) by January 1. The challenge is to write the game during the period, but games that were written before the jam can still be submitted. At the end of the jam, games that are accepted will be published as an anthology bundle via itch.io. Proceeds from the anthology will go to World Central Kitchen. Games can be submitted here.

Why: Two-player games offer a level of intensity and intimacy that I believe is worth deliberately exploring. Focusing specifically on the dynamic between two people in a specific scenario allows for the sole focus to be on those two characters and their relationship to each other. And I just think that’s neat.

Who: You! You can write and submit a game by yourself as part of a team. Or as a duo, in keeping with the theme. You can submit as many games as you like, but there is no guarantee that all games will make it into the anthology. As for the “who” behind this project, this game jam is organized by Jacqui Albin of Nocturnal Mess Productions
